WATER AND MARINE ENVIRONMENT
Water plays a crucial role in
wine production, impacting
both cultivation and the
winemaking process.
Water is essential for wine. As shown
on the map, many wine-producing
regions are located in areas with
high or expected high water stress
levels, where water demand exceeds
available resources. This highlights
the need for improved water usage
across sectors, effective water
resource management, and pollution
reduction.
Water and marine environments are
not a significant part of our direct
operations, but our greatest impact
lies upstream in the value chain.
We observe positive trends among
our partners, including Symington,
which actively works to optimise
water consumption.
